Isle of Arran local information

The Isle of Arran is situated off the south west coast of Scotland. It is easily accessible by ferry from the mainland port of Ardrossan. The ferry arrives at the Arran port of Brodick in less than an hour.

Arran offers tourist and visitors a host of places to visit and activities in which to participate. The terrain itself varies from sandy beaches to moorland and woodland.

For a relaxing holiday there is hill walking, pony trekking, brewery and castle visits and no less than 7 golf courses. The more adventurous can participate in paragliding or quad biking.

ABOUT BRODICK

Brodick is your arrival and departure Village for the main ferry from Ardrossan (Smaller ferry from Lochranza to Clonaig).

It is well provided for grocery shopping with a large Co-op near the ferry terminal and a smaller Convenience Co-op at the other end of the village. Both are open seven days a week.

There are also various craft and gift shops selling a selection of local goods.  Duchess Court has the famous Arran Aromatics gift shop, Island Cheese and Creelers Restaurant.

Brodick Village Hall has a library and internet facilities.   The village also has tennis courts, bowling and putting greens and Brodick Golf Club.

The Auchrannie Hotel has an indoor swimming pool, games hall and fitness suite. Mountain bikes are available for hire. There are three restaurants providing a choice of menu.

Brodick Castle and Country Park and Arran Heritage Museum are main visitor attractions.

The local newspaper, The Arran Banner, is published each Friday and has details of “What's On” or the Tourist Information Office located near the ferry terminal will also help.
